I was in the 3rd grade when my mother brought home two magazines, Life and National Geographic. I decided then that I wanted to be a photographer. A landscape photographer to be precise. I would travel around the world photographing mountains, oceans, rivers, people, anything and everything. In 1980, I settled for the life of a commercial photographer, working in a studio for almost twenty years. Luckily fate intervened and I am now enjoying both my passions, golf landscape photography and golf.
"I wish I can hang out with you at a golf course." is a comment I hear frequently. It really is a fun "job" that has golf perks. It is my passion to capture a golf hole that is so familiar but putting a new twist to it. I often get asked by members who look at an image of the course they belong to, "Which course is this?"
At times I encounter bugs and wildlife, freezing temperatures and howling winds (as at Whistling Straits), my fingers get so cold that they can barely squeeze the shutter release. But these problems are just faded memories of minor irritants when I view the results on my computer.
A scene often takes my breath away and I always wish there was someone with me to pause and take in the splendor. I hope to share that splendor with you in my golf art images.
